Hi - I have the Interlogix SLX-AD-TE (https://support.suretyhome.com) smoke alarm audio detector. Approximately once every day or so, it goes offline. The alarm.com app says “Malfunction (Smoke Detector).” Within an hour or so, it reconnects on its own. This is a brand new device that I installed about 10 days ago, and it started happening about 5 days ago. Any suggestions on how to debug the issue?
Those offline malfunctions are a result of the panel not receiving all of the heartbeat supervision signals it expects from the sensor. This indicates the sensor is having trouble reaching the panel.
I am linking a general guide at the bottom which goes over common troubleshooting. Since it is a new sensor I am guessing battery life doesn’t come into play.
How far from the panel is that sensor? A Firefighter can be placed next to any of the interconnected smoke detectors in a circuit. If it seems to have some interference or other signal trouble in its current spot, I would recommend trying it next to a different smoke detector in the circuit.
Choose one of the closer smoke detectors to the panel. Any change in behavior?
The sensor is very close to the panel - about 10 feet away with one doorway between the panel and the sensor. I intentionally placed it next to the smoke detector closest to the panel.
It is a new sensor, but I’ll check the voltage on the battery and try replacing the battery.

If you still notice this behavior after, I would recommend still relocating that sensor to another nearby smoke detector, or at least reorienting it around the current detector. I’ve seen things like proximity to power wires directly behind/above where the sensor is located to cause some interference.
