I have a firefighter listening device and Nest thermostats but I am not seeing the fire safety rule. Am I missing something or is this feature incompatible with Nest?
From the Firefighter product page:
How do I automatically turn off my HVAC fan when a fire is detected?
Log into the Alarm.com website and go to Automation → Rules. Enable the Fire Safety rule.
Thank you. That is a bit of a bummer because I won’t be changing my thermostats anytime soon. I would hope they improve this integration in the future.
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I have around 7 smoke detectors that are all linked together. I’d need to replace them all with nest. Was hoping I could use the firefighter listening device I have to fully shut off HVAC if any of my existing detectors went off. Seems like this is something they could easily add but have chosen not to. ADC advertises support for these 3rd party products but the integrations are super lacking.
A bit of clarification, the limitation here (in ADC) is caused by the Nest Thermostats, not the smoke detectors, and I don’t believe this is all by choice on ADC’s part.
I think I recall Google placing rate limits on API access which could make automation pretty unreliable.
