Fire alarm detector for Kitchen

I have a 2GIG GC3E Panel installed and am looking for a Fire Alarm detector for my Kitchen.

I see that there is a 2GIG-SMKT8-345 product on the 2GIG website that may work? but am not sure.

I want to avoid false alarms from cooking on the stove.

The product will be installed on the wall more than 10 feet from the stove.

As such, will this product work or do you have another product that you can recommend?

Thank you

Ken

On 2GIG panels you program the Smoke Heat and Freeze detection functions of the SMKT8e separately into the panel.

For a kitchen, usually it is recommended to go with Heat only. You could just opt to not program the smoke detector Loop into the panel in that case, and only use the heat loop for fire detection.

Makes sense.

Do you know of a different product to purchase that just has the Heat only function?

Thanks
Ken

2GIG does not make a heat only detector to my knowledge, but there is a compatible Honeywell 5809SS which is a 345Mhz sensor.

Does the 2gIG SMKT8 product make a noise when it detects smoke or does it just try to inform the 2GIG GC3E Panel of a smoke alert?

If it does not make noise, and I do not configure the 2GIG GC3E panel for smoke, I have basically totally turned off the smoke function and problem solved.

No noise and not alert if a smoke situation occurs.

It does have a built in sounder, not programming the smoke detection portion would just make it so it does not report to the panel or monitoring station. For a heat only wireless detector, look into the 5809SS.
