I don’t see a life expectancy of these units in the manual or online. I know I’ve bought ones in the past that specifically said they were only good for 10 years. Should I just try cleaning both of these, or should they be replaced? I was wondering if you had any trouble codes in your logs that I may not be able to see.
EOL codes to not get sent to Alarm.com, nor does manufacturing information but this can typically be found on the unit. However, I am not showing any specific error codes.
In general, all photoelectric smoke detectors go bad eventually, the sensing materials in the chamber degrade. 10 -years is pretty standard.
have done no real maintenance to them other than changing the batteries when notified. Reading the manual it looks like I should have been (oops).
More information on smoke detector testing can be found here:
That is for Burglary only. Fire alarms are not disregarded per an abort (disarm) signal.
Monitoring procedures can be found here.
Are there recommended replacements?
Your system works with 319.5MHz and PowerG sensors. Interlogix stopped making home security products some time ago but you can get 319.5MHz smokes from Qolsys. DSC PowerG Smoke sensors can also be used and offer increased communication range and encryptrion over that of their 319.5MHz counterparts. Below would be the latest units available:
