False Alarms on the 2GIG 345S Carbon Monoxide Detector

I am getting multiple false alarms on the 2GIG 345S CO2 Detectors. This has happened with two different/brand new detectors. No CO2 in the home verified by several other detectors.

Has anyone else had a problem with these devices?

What are alternative CO2 detectors that are compatible with my 2GIG GC3 panel?

First, if you’ve had two new detectors go off, call the fire department or your gas service company’s emergency line immediately! Carbon monoxide cannot be accurately measured without proper equipment.

Do not rely on other devices not going off as an indicator of whether it’s safe. Differences in ventilation or air circulation can cause the CO to be confined to a specific area. Detectors that are old or expired will become less sensitive over time. Two different CO detectors malfunctioning and causing false alarms is rare. It is not worth the risk.

If a qualified technician or emergency responder has given the all clear, then we can get into troubleshooting the detectors. Do not attempt troubleshooting until one of them has given the all clear.

the home has already been checked by the gas company and is all clear. and you misunderstand, it is only one new detector at a time. I had the same issue with a 2GIG CO detector before, threw it away, purchase a new one and same issue again. I have two other CO detectors in the home that are not going off (and again, the gas company has confirmed no CO in the home). I think there was a defective batch or something as the problematic ones start going off immediately at installation and then intermittently act up again. Regardless, I am ready to change brands and looking for reccomendations, not interested in troubleshoothing the problem unit, have already changed the batteries, removed and re-added it to the panel, etc.

Additionally, the problem units go off when placed in different locations in the home, while the non-problem units that work correctly never go off in those same locations when we switch. So we have isolated it to a bad unit through location swaps as well and I am using two different brands of other units that are not going off (and verification by the gas company).

Understood, happy to help. A different option would be the Honeywell 5800COV which is a 345Mhz sensor.

The new CO100 (the 345S version) has a switch on board to change between encrypted and unencrypted. On a GC3 that would need to be unencrypted. Those were just released very recently though.

I am actually seeing a related order on your account for the older CO8-345 last year through our store. That is not the S version, just to clarify.

Are you able to confirm that model number printed on your CO detector? I’d like to look into it with 2GIG if there actually is a batch issue.
