False alarms on every new device - normal?

Hi there, we recently moved and sold all our old gear with the old house. I’ve now ordered and an installing our new gear, starting with smoke and CO detectors. I’ve gotten 11 sensors total installed so far, and of those 9 have triggered actual alarms, some an hour+ after activation. So far (emphasis on so far) I have not gotten a duplicate alarm - I. E. We have not gotten a false alarm from the same unit twice.

Is this normal? I don’t recall this happening with our old gear but it’s been a few years. Obviously if it keeps happening I’ll be much more concerned, just curious how worried to be now.

It’s certainly not normal to have random false alarms on so many devices, but it depends on what sensors they are and how they are being installed/used.

Are you pressing and holding the test button on the detectors before or after installing? This sends an alarm signal to the panel, the panel will then respond with a siren and fire alarm report.

Looking at the history it appears they are all being triggered once in sequence a few minutes apart. This doesn’t appear to be random activations.
