Failed Arming on Door Unlock

When I unlock my front door, even if the system is disarmed, I immediately get a “Failed Arming” message.

So that message is in response to an automation rule you have set up to automatically Disarm the system when two of your locks are unlocked.

If already disarmed, the panel wouldn’t accept the state change. Typically this will result in a message on the panel stating that the panel is not in a state to be able to disarm, depending on the panel type.

“Failed Arming” is a general error referencing that disarm, generated from your system actions to watch notification.

If you arm the system, then unlock the door, do you get the same error occurring?

No. I don’t believe I do.

Any idea why this hasn’t done this until a few months ago?

I’ve owned an alarm.com alarm and door automations for > 5 years. Never did I get this message until recently.

Is there any way to prevent this?

I don’t really recall this being normal myself. It might be indicative of a firmware change. Did you update your panel firmware around when this started?

Try sending a remote reboot command to the panel through the System Manager, then try testing the unlock while the system is disarmed. Same message?

If so, you can edit the System Actions to Watch notification and deselect the “Unable to Arm” notification option. Does this stop the notification?
