Forgive my naivete, I’m trying to learn about this stuff…
I moved into a house that had an existing 2gig GoControl. I followed the reset instructions (remove power, hold two buttons, etc) which reset the user code, but not the installer code. The old installer will not provide the code.
Can somebody simply explain what I can do to get in? I don’t mind paying for service, I just don’t want to get locked into a multiyear contract.
In this case you would need a service provider which will unlock your programming. suretyDIY is a do-it-yourself provider and opens all programming to the user. We do not maintain or lock installer codes.

We don’t like long-term contracts either, which is why we do not offer them. suretyDIY service is completely month to month. Can be cancelled anytime. You can upgrade or downgrade, add professional monitoring or drop it, anytime.
To get started with an existing 2GIG Go!Control Panel, this page goes over everything you may need. Step by step instructions can also be found here.
Ultimately if you need a cell module, firmware update, and service, this kit is all you would need, and includes the first month of service.
Thanks, Jason. Do you mean that I need to pay the previous service provider to reset their installer code, or would Surety be able to do it once I purchase your kit and service?

I mean that we are able to do that for you once the system communicates with our service. In fact with existing 2GIG panels, the process is automatic and programming is opened and the installer code defaulted within about 20 minutes of running your cell test to connect. Jason, I’ve gotten my starter kit and installed the new cell module. However, I can’t get to the cell test because I still don’t have the master code. What should I do? Thanks
Keep in mind there is a difference between the Installer Code and Master User Code, and both can be used to access Cell phone test. You stated in your original post that the user code was reset. Does this mean you can use 1111 to disarm/access the menu?
Press Security - Menu - Toolbox - Master User Code - Scroll right twice - Cell phone test.
I am aware there are two codes. Yes, the Master User is set to 1111. When I scroll to the last page of the Toolbox, I have an option for telephone test, but no cell test. Please advise. My cell module seems to be properly installed–I unscrewed it and re-installed it to be sure. Any ideas?
Ah, if you do not see Cell Phone Test as an option, then there is a separate issue.
Did you swap the module with the panel powered on? The panel should be fully powered down before making hardware or wiring changes inside.
If the panel was still powered, please try power cycling the panel now. Unplug the plug-in transformer from the wall receptacle, then unplug the battery connector. Wait 30 seconds or so, then plug in battery and plug in the wall transformer.
Wait for the panel to boot up and then check the toolbox again.
What is the firmware of the panel? The firmware needs to be at least 1.9.6 before the cell module will function. You can check the current firmware by following this video:
Thanks, Jason. Just needed to update the firmware. System is set up and working now.
Another question–I added all of the existing door, window and motion sensors that I know of in the house, but there are still a couple sensor ID #s popping up when I use learn-in. I’m not sure what they are. Is there any way to identify what type of sensor each ID is linked to?

No, you would not be able to tell which type based on TXID.
If they are transmitting randomly without opening doors and windows, you are likely looking at extra motion detectors in the home, or possibly a close neighbor with Honeywell/2GIG sensors. You’ll want to make sure that all of the visible sensors in the home are accounted for.
