ELV / Trailing Edge Dimmer

Hi, does anyone have experience and/or recommendation for an ELV / trailing edge dimmer with ZWAVE that works with Qolsys Panel 2? I have some exterior LED’s that I connected to “off the shelf” Leviton ZWAVE dimmers and started noticing flickering. After some further research, I found that the lights require ELV dimmers, which are less common, and with ZWAVE even less so.

Thanks!

Happy to assist!

The VRE06-1LZ from Leviton would be an ELV Zwave Dimmer

Most Z-Wave Single Function Light switches and Dimmers should work. However, it is never a bad idea to follow compatibility from the manufacturer. This chart here from Qolsys is the current Z-Wave compatibility guide for the Qolsys IQ Panel 2.

Thanks for the recommendation. A lighting / electrical distributor just recommended this model to me, which is considerably cheaper and he’s had good experience with it. Passing along for all that may be interested.

Following up on this, the dimmer from Cooper Industries I posted above was not able to be recognized properly by the Qolsys Panel 2. It kept showing up as “Other Device1” instead of a lighting device. Bummer, it’s a quality and affordable switch. So much for Zwave being a universally recognized standard.

Z-wave is standard. It is a wireless communication protocol.

Individual devices can be incompatible with some controllers however. In the Cooper case, I’m not 100% but it looks like each may have two command classes, and this may be causing the issue. If not, there would be something else about the default parameters of the device which cause this.

Thank you for following up and confirming!
