I was looking into the Ecolink garage door controller and had a couple of questions:
Is there a limit to how many of these can be used at the same site? Or how many garage doors the alarm.com app supports? I have a building with 8 garage doors using older Genie openers that have both wired buttons on the wall and remotes. I was considering installing 8 of these so that I could control all the doors through the alarm.com app.
Using an Ecolink makes it show up in the alarm.com app just like any other non-Ecolink garage door, correct?
Can the included tilt sensors be used to trigger the alarm, or would I need to add separate sensors for that? When armed, I could like the alarm to be triggered with entry delay if any of the doors are opened.
As a Z-wave device there isn’t a limit in Alarm.com for number, but there is a limit of 128 devices total built into the panel. You would be able to use 8.
It would be controllable in Alarm.com using the Home or Complete plans.
The included tilt sensors just communicate with the Ecolink garage controller to report status, they don’t connect to the panel as an alarm sensor. A separate sensor compatible with the panel would be needed for this.
You can then program those particular sensors with a long entry delay sensor group to give more time for those doors vs other entry doors.
