Hi. I purchased this https://www.zwaveproducts.com/products/ff-zwave5-eco-ecolink-z-wave-plus-firefighter device for the common reasons, and added it to the IQ2+ . The panel sees it as a thermometer. Indeed, it shows it is an “other z-wave device” in the panel, labeled as a thermometer, and when I view it, the current temperature is displayed. The manual that comes with it says that it does have a temperature sensor in its repertoire.
ADC sees it as a smoke/heat/smoke-heat. I tested my smoke detectors while holding the device near one of them, and after 30 seconds the panel did not show any kind of alarm.
So is this not going to work as I hoped? Thank you.
No. Alarm panels do not use Z-wave for any alarm activation or sensor monitoring. That sensor will not work.
You would need a security RF model compatible with your panel. For the 319.5 IQ panel 2+ that would be either a 319.5 smoke detector or a PowerG one.
Does that mean the First Alert zwave smoke detectors also can not be used?
No Z-wave security or life safety devices are compatible. If it is a smoke detector that communicates via Z-wave it will not work.
You will need either 319.5 sensors or PowerG for the IQ Panel 2+.
got it. Thank you
No problem. Z-wave is only used for automation device control. Lights, thermostats, locks, etc.
