I am happy to forward the suggestion. I think based on experience this likely will fall on Ecobee to implement a delay in reporting the status, rather than the integration ignoring statuses when they are first sent, but I know its a frustrating issue to get excess notifications. I would personally like to see the API connected third party devices like ecobee to have notifications able to be turned off independently.
As an overall observation from the support side to help address issues you may notice in the future, Orbi specifically tends to have a very heavy hand with band steering and negatively impacts IOT connections. It seems to have some very aggressive bandwidth optimisation and historically has not allowed basically any configuration changes which were needed to resolve issues with other network devices, like panels and secondary keypads, video cameras, etc.
I predicted this with the Ecobee tech support. I told them that I would mention this to ADC, and they would most likely say that Ecobee had to do it.
Whoever’s “issue” this is, I think ADC can do a better job at taking ownership. Even if they have to push Ecobee regularly to resolve. The rationalale is that Ecobee’s app works fine, and its the ADC app and platform that is malfunctioning (whatever the reason).
This issue is widespread enough as evidenced from all the people posting about it.
There is an opportunity for ADC to be more on top of these things and communicate updates for anything revelated to their platform.
Hey, I’ve been having a similar issue with my Ecobee4. It kept showing as disconnected in the ADC app, but was still working fine in the Ecobee app. I tried unlinking and relinking it, resetting the thermostat, and even clearing the app’s cache, but nothing really seemed to fix the problem fully.
One thing that seemed to help was making sure I removed all connected apps from my Ecobee account before doing a reset. It looks like the issue might be on the ADC side, because my Ecobee and Google Home apps were still working fine. I’d recommend reaching out to ADC support since they seem to be aware of this issue.
Hope this helps, and let me know if you need any more info!
