Hi. I have moved into a house and replaced the security system with a DSC Neo Power Series HS2064. So far I have focused on getting the zones functioning (now done) and am ready to begin the process of getting monitoring/central communication. I specifically want the insurance discount (central monitoring) and a smart phone app to arm/disarm. Cellular will be my primary communication method as I will not be using a land line at this location. From a response to a similar post, I see my next step is to buy and install a DSC NEO 3G8080. As these can be bought with compatibility from Verizon or ATT, does it matter which one? Do you sell them programmed with SuretyDIY information or should I just buy one from somewhere else? What is the process for engaging the monitoring through your service? Should I connect the 3G8080 and get it operating and then open an account or open the account before I connect the 3G8080?

Welcome to the forum!
Yes, a 3G or better Alarm.com cellular communication module is required in order to get started with service. To determine the best carrier for your area, you can use this coverage check tool.

We do not sell DSC panels and equipment, but we do provide monitoring for all Alarm.com compatible systems. You can purchase compatible equipment from any vendor and use it with our service. The cell module itself does not require account programming, as forwarding settings are handled on the back-end.

Once you have an Alarm.com communication module, you can verify it is unregistered and ready for use here.
When you are ready, you would only need to purchase a service subscription on suretyDIY.com.
After your purchase you will be prompted to fill out an order survey which will collect the necessary details for your account. Orders are processed during business hours Monday - Friday.
When processing is complete you will receive a welcome email with connection steps, testing instructions, and initial login credentials for your Alarm.com account. Connecting to service (via a cell phone test run from the panel) can be done at any point after you receive your welcome email.
Whether or not you install the module before-hand does not impact the process. You will need to simply have the module in order to get started.
Thanks for your support. While it has been two weeks I followed the steps you described and tested the system today and everything works. I installed the ATT 3G8080 and then let it set for a few days before I did the communication test. In the interim I knew it had communicated because a banner appeared on the LED panel indicating the weather conditions in my area (a delightful surprise). The account set up with SURETYDIY was really easy. The alarm monitoring had features I did not expect (like an SMS if the garage doors are left open after xx:xx pm in the evening or for that matter any other sensor is left open for [x] minutes after [any]time. And this can be totally customized. I also saw the ability for the system to learn my patterns and send text alerts for abnormal activity, which I think is also cool. Today I tested the system with the call out from the Alarm Monitoring Central Station and that worked as well. Overall I am very pleased with SURETYDIY as well as the ALARM.com features. So thanks for helping me make my system functional.

We’re happy to help! Glad to hear you are enjoying the service!
Unexpected Activity alerts, referenced above, is a fairly new feature. System activity is tracked so that if you do not have a notification rule created for a specific reminder or action, if that activity occurs outside the expected time-frame a notification is generated.
