DSC Install & Surety Monitoring

Hello
Apologies because I am usually tech savvy, but this is new territory & the info is overwhelming.

In the early 2000s we had a home wired alarm system but is not active presently.
Last week we had a local company come over for a walk-thru & quote.

The Local Company proposed upgrading the existing system + monthly monitoring as follows:

✦ Connection to existing Wiring and Door/ Window Contacts
(1) DSC Power Series Neo Control Communicator
(1) DSC LTE Cellular Module
(2) DSC LCD Keypads
(2) DSC Infrared Motion Detectors
(1) 16Volt Transformer
(1) 12Volt 30Watt Siren
(1) 12V01t 7A.H. Back-up Battery
Programming & Labor
= $1,642.35 Total

✦ $45.00/Mo. for a term of 24 months for connection to 24hour Central Station monthly monitoring with Cellular Service.

MY QUESTION:
Can we just hire the Local Company to do Part One “Connection to existing Wiring and Door/ Window Contacts”
& then use Surety for the monitoring because it is obviously less expensive?
Is what Local Company proposing with DSC equipment compatible with Surety Monitoring?

Please advise at your earliest convenience. Thank you.

You could have a local installer perform the physical installation and just use our service, I would recommend verifying if they charge differently for that though. Some providers may only install systems if you use their monitoring.

If they are willing to do the installation you could just sign up for service on our website here when ready.

The DSC Powerseries Neo is a panel compatible with our service using an Alarm.com LTE cell module.

Thank you.
I am having difficulty finding someone in the Los Angeles area to do just the upgrading to our existing system.

One company that was recommended can & would do the system upgrade only if we also sign a 2-year $45 / month monitoring contract.

I would prefer to try Surety because the monitoring is more economical.

We can’t recommend an installer in your area as we can’t take responsibility for the quality of their work. We do get this question a lot, so we can inform you about some companies that advertise doing installations without monitoring. See here:

If your plan is to use Alarm.com (we’re an Alarm.com provider), I recommend using Qolsys brand equipment instead of the DSC NEO. The NEO is a great security panel but doesn’t provide the full Alarm.com experience like Qolsys does. DSC and Qolsys are owned by the same company, Johnson Controls, but Alarm.com works better with Qolsys.

The 2 options for wired sensors are

  1. The IQ Pro, which actually has a DSC NEO built into it but also Qolsys features.
  1. The IQ Panel 4 or IQ4 Hub combined with an IQ Hardwire PowerG.

The IQ Pro would keep your wired sensors fully wired. The IQ Hardwire PowerG would convert your wired sensors to wireless so they can be used by the wireless panels.
