Coning to my friends at this forum for help… again.
I have a double switch in a single gang box for my inside foyer lights and my outside entryway lights. I’m looking to add both to my 2GIG/ADC setup, but I unfortunately don’t have the room to use two single gang switches (see attached picture). Using a single gang switch will be easy for the outside garage lights, but I’m hoping to get the double switch added as well (it’ll be nice to put the outside lights on a schedule).
I did some searching online and was wondering if the Leviton VRCS2-MRZ will fit the bill. Also wondering if anyone has any experience with this switch and 2GIG/ADC. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance for the assistance… it’s amazing how these switches multiply like rabbits in a house!
I’ve worked with other Leviton switches and 2GIG before (fan controls, actually) and they have worked well. I have not tried this model, but it looks like what you want in this circumstance, and it also appears the switches are learned in independently as opposed to being a multifunction device so you may be in luck. Switches are typically the most universally compatible device type, being so simple.
I went ahead and ordered it on Amazon (even though it killed me because 2 single switches are much cheaper)… it should be here sometime today or tomorrow. I’ll install it tomorrow or this weekend and will definitely post how it goes (hopefully it’ll be good news!). You guys have been a huge help, so I welcome the opportunity to return the favor.
So… I received and installed the switch last night. Installation was a breeze - super simple - just had to follow the directions.
Connecting it my 2GIG panel for z-wave was a totally different story. At first it wouldn’t communicate with the panel. After reading some reviews on it, the panel needs to be literally right next to the switch. Since we’re dealing with a light switch and a panel, I thought I was out of options, but decided to remove the panel from the wall and bring it to the switch. After numerous phone calls regarding the tamper alarm, I was able to get the two to communicate.
The way the Leviton directions are written, I was expecting to have to add it as a controller and then the two switches… but it never cooperated that way. In the end, I just added each switch independently… it took a few tries, but eventually, my 2GIG panel got two new switches and communicated it to ADC, so all is well.
I wish I could explain exactly how it worked, but I can at least tell you it does work. Thanks for the help!

The instructions for certain devices are a bit misleading when there are multiple functions. This device can be a “Scene Controller,” basically allowing you to control other Z-wave lights etc in the house from this switch. But in this case you would just be learning in the two switches as individual devices in the 2GIG panel as normal.
Proximity to the controller (panel) is usually very important. Just using the panel on battery power and bringing it to all the devices is the best way to do it.
When the panel is back to its final location, run a network rediscovery to ensure best communication routes.
