Doorbell ring delay in app

I have the VDB770 doorbell. App ring delay has typically for me been three to five minutes, since new.

The electric chime in the house always rings immediately. And the chime from the app most always sounds, eventually.

It’d be an awesome feature if it worked as fast as the regular chime, so I could be anywhere on my property and still get notified that someone was visiting.

But this way it’s only a frustrating fail. Today for example I had the delivery person come, ring the bell, I answered the door, they brought the delivery in, drive away, I closed and locked the door, then as I’m walking back to my office, the app doorbell sounds plays. D’oh!

Tried reboots, reinstalls, etc. My internet connection is strong, fast, symmetrical, and uncrowded. My conclusion is that this is not a problem in my wlan, but a bug server side or app side.

Can you please pass along my concern? I couldn’t figure out any way to give ADC feedback on it directly.

Thanks!

What you are describing is not normal. Looking at your history, the video doorbell call notification is sent literally within 1 second of the button call hitting ADC. There should not be minutes in between

So we can test and compare times with what is in history, can you press the doorbell button as a test, let us know the exact time when you pressed the button. Then let us know the time when you get the notification to your phone.

With those exact times, I can compare with your history and tell what part of the process the delay is coming from.

Ok I will do that and report back here!

But we can’t use the history, if you are meaning the one in the app, ADC modifies them after the fact.

I believe we talked about this in an older thread, in conjunction with person notification events being way, way too late.

We can see for notifications that use the mobile OS, by comparing Android notification history (the real time of notifications), to the timestamps that ADC writes.

I think I’ve sent you screenshots showing ADC app initially posting an event with one timestamp, then later revising it to suggest it came earlier.

I’d appreciate hearing from other users who have notifications come too late too. Because I think it’s a system thing, rather than a phone or wlan thing.

I am not referring to your user history. I am referring to dealer history here. We can see when notifications are sent, when commands are sent vs when they are acknowledged, and when signals come in from the system.

So we can test and compare times with what is in history, can you press the doorbell button as a test, let us know the exact time when you pressed the button. Then let us know the time when you get the notification to your phone.

With those exact times, I can compare with your history and tell what part of the process the delay is coming from.
