Hi! Is the VDB780 AI capabilities any better than the VDB770? Or is it just a wireless version? I currently have the VDB770, and need to move it to a more normal doorbell position to the right of the door. This will take a bit of head scratching and some significant rewiring effort. I could drop the cash for the wireless model and save some construction work, if I can rationalize it via better people detect or something. Is there any difference? I know they both use the same video analytics system. But I think the new one also uses PIR? The VDB770 people detect has been uselessly buggy from day one (sees cats, spiders, shadows, branches, everything as a person). Any advice?
A comparison guide for the available ADC doorbells is below:
All cameras use video analytics rules for people detection. ADC does not go into extreme detail on the data sheets but for the VDB780, because it is battery only I believe it first triggers motion via the PIR, then video analytics is applied, so it is a bit of a mix between the Skybell and VDB770 in terms of how it activates.
Ultimately the specs are pretty similar. The VDB750 is the newest one replacing the Skybell models and actually not using a battery at all.
Thank you, very useful!
I’m disappointed with the results though: I was hoping the new one was better. It’s sad that in this spec table, the VDB770 lists features like a.) “rapid people detection” and b.) “Premier analytics capabilities” because a.) the people detection is anything but rapid. By the time I get notified by app that someone rang the bell, they are long gone. It’s useless. and b.) this doorbell constantly “I see a person” alerts on spiderwebs, leaf shadow dappling on the ground, cats, etc. Also completely useless; its analytics are ‘premier’ in name only.
