The sensor for Zone 4 Entry Door has been randomly sending tamper signals for no reason multiple times at a time if you check the logs. Today is the third time it happens and I’ve made sure the backplate is well seated but it is still doing this. What could be the problem?
Test the tamper switch to see if it is working correctly (actuating freely without getting stuck) then ensure the case is on correctly and nothing is in the way.
When troubleshooting, you may want to place your 24/7 professional monitoring account on Test Mode during troubleshooting to avoid any false dispatches.
You can do this by calling monitoring operators directly at 855-348-0367 or from the Test My System tab in the System Manager section of your Surety account.
If this does not resolve the issue, delete the sensor, re-add, then test for functionality both via tamper and normal sensor activation (open/Close) Any change?
If necessary, you can change the sensors Group to group 25 safety sensor so the sensor does not generate an alarm signal.
Everything seems to be working as it should and the casing seems secured. I did went ahead and deleted and re-added the sensor just in case, so I’ll keep monitoring these next few days.
Also, I’ve attached a picture of the the sensor casing clip that secured the sensor in place so you can check if there’s any physical damage or defect that might be causing the issue.
The sensor casing seems fine there. If the casing was a little loose, where the switch is just barely held shut, then it can certainly trip randomly. This might be triggered by vibration, slamming doors, etc., usually it is due to a loose connection of the sensor cover, but yours seems ok. The switch itself inside the sensor may be the issue. If you notice it again I would open the sensor and reconnect the cover securely.
Is that sensor mounted with tape or screws?
With the double sided tape and I did went ahead and reopened the sensor and made sure it it fitted well.
