Some jurisdictions require the owner of a professionally monitored alarm system to obtain an alarm permit. These jurisdictions may refuse to dispatch police, or even fine you if you don’t have a permit.
In some jurisdictions, you are responsible for getting your own permit. In others, Surety is responsible for getting the permit on your behalf. When Surety is responsible for the permit, we will reach out to you with instructions.
Be proactive about your permit. Check with your police department and city to find out whether you need a permit and how to get it. Ensure that you understand and follow any laws that may exist concerning your alarm system.
When applying for your permit, you may be asked who your alarm company is and for a license number. Since it varies city-by-city, this information is displayed in System Manager under the “Alarm Permit” section. If you don’t find it in System Manager then please reach out to support.
