Disarming the system causes a duress and the monitoring center immediatly calls the police

At night we arm the system in stay mode. To disarm the system we tap the screen to bring up the disarm option and get a screen that shows a 30 second countdown and a keypad to put in our passcode. Putting in the passcode disarms the system. However, tapping the screen to disarm it also causes an alarm/duress and the monitoring center is notified and they call the police. There is no alarm sound from the keypad.

Last night, I tried to disarm the system from stay mode. I tapped the screen, entered my passcode, and the system disarmed. About 10 seconds later the monitoring center called saying there was a duress alarm and that they had called the police. I told them it was not suppose to do that and that it was a false alarm. I rearmed the system but the police showed up. I disarmed the system again and the same thing happened. The officer was at the door when the monitoring center called. So we were able to avoid any other officers from showing up.

We do not want to arm the system again until we have this figured out. Please help.

This means that you are disarming the system using the Duress Code. The duress code will successfully disarm the system as well as send that duress to the monitoring station. It is intended as a code for use in hostage situations, etc.

Looking at your account you have a duress code added to the system. I see a number of duress events. Be sure to only use the Duress code when an immediate dispatch is needed.

Log into Alarm.com and look at the users page to verify the code that should be used vs the duress code.
