Difference between sensor group 38 (water) and 25 (water non-reporting)?

Would tripping group 38 actually have police or fire showing up to the house?

If set to group 25, would I still get the siren or alerted if I’m out of the house?

Thanks.

No, a water alarm indicates a leak at the home and would not result in calls to emergency authorities.

You can set notifications in Alarm.com for sensor activity on that zone. It would not generate any local siren.

Hello. [Piggy backing on an older thread here…]

If a water sensor is in Group 38 what exactly will happen at the panel? Will the loud siren blare until the panel is acknowledged / disarmed?

Is the siren just like the one for an intrusion or is it a different sound?

Can it be acknowledged/silenced remotely from the alarm.com app?

Thinking about the dog being home alone when this goes off. If a loud siren will erupt I may want to opt for Group 25 with notifications instead, otherwise the dog will freak out.

Thank you.

I do not work for Surety l, so they can correct me if I’m wrong.

Group 38 would trigger an alarm upon activation. You would need to disarm the panel to clear it.

You can remotely clear the alarm through the Alarm.com app, as long as you can clear burglar alarms. You still need an active subscription and appropriate account permissions. The same permissions control all alarms (burglar and environmental).

I have mine configured so that the alarm next to the water heater and washing machine are Group 38. The ones under sinks are Group 25.

Some water sensors will only trip if water is detected for a period of time. Others will trip instantly.

Thank you. That makes sense. I did a little testing locally but wanted some level of verification before running with it. I think Group 25 for all will work for me.

When testing in Group 25, the panel does do the chime for that sensor and annunciates the water/flood condition until someone dismisses it. This, in addition to any ADC notifications is good enough.

The dog hates the alarm siren and tries to hide between the washing machine and the wall in the laundry room to escape the noise. Don’t want to put him through that unnecessarily. I mean, he doesn’t have opposable thumbs, so he can’t do anything about a water condition. LOL.

I know I can tie this to a water valve actuator (to help with some flood conditions) but my water shutoff is a gate valve instead of a ball valve, so no luck there. Anyway… Thanks again.
