Definition for various Alarm states in rule builder

Hello.
When using the rules builder to trigger an action when the system is in an alarm state, there are a number of alarm options to choose from. What exactly do the following options represent?

  • Any Fire, Smoke, or CO Device
  • Any Intrusion Sensor
  • SYSTEM

In other words - if I want the same action on ALL alarm states - whether for CO, Fire, or any sensor based ‘burglar’ alarm, would I need to create multiple rules to cover the top two options, or would “any intrusion sensor” also cover fire and CO?

Thank you for your help. I tried the alarm.com KB articles and couldn’t find this info.

Those are different and Intrusion does not cover fire and CO.

Any Fire, Smoke, or CO alarm specifically refers to alarms generated by a fire, smoke, or CO detector programmed into your panel.

Any Intrusion Sensor refers to any alarm event generated by a burglary alarm sensor. Door sensors, motion detectors, glass break detectors, etc.

SYSTEM refers to system generated alarms, Panic alarms from activating the panic on the panel, duress code inputs.

The events that each option can trigger are a bit different, such as unlocking a specific lock on a fire alarm, so they are split. If you want a specific result from all the options multiple rules can be made.
