CS 2 Way Voice Not Working

Good afternoon,

In the processing of testing with the CS and I asked to test 2 way voice. The operator told me the account was in 2 way test mode and to send some signals and they would verify with 2 way voice.

The alarm/signals went out, but no 2 way voice. I called back to the CS and was told they could not connect with 2 way voice and to contact SuretyDIY. Any suggestions?

They confirmed the signals received and the GC3 panel alarm sound stops (as I have have programmed so we could talk) but there is no 2 way voice. Another oddity when I disarm with my code I have to mute/unmute the system to get my voice prompts/keypad tones back, almost like the 2 way voice still has all the sounds muted?

Thanks in advance!

I’m showing 2-way signals being sent by Alarm.com and received by the CS, though the connection is not made. So 2-way is definitely kicking in on the panel. Accounts in standard test mode do not get responded to over 2-way. There may have been some test mode overlap?

It looks like test mode has expired altogether. Can you be ready with your phone and your passcode near the panel and set off an alarm without test mode active? Do you hear the CS through 2-way then? That would more definitively tell me what the likely issue is.

Thanks Jason.

I did as you suggested and triggered an alarm. The CS responded on the panel via 2 way voice. The initial communication was a little jittered though, hard to understand the operator and the over flow was not as I expected, I guess this is not a full duplex connection (meaning we can both talk at the same time)?

I have the Verizon module with a 2/6 signal as I have Verizon cell service and have never had an issue with my phone. Maybe the signal is causing some of my issues described above?

Never the less it is indeed working and I appreciate your prompt reply.

Thanks

It is. The GC3 has had a few updates with regard to 2-way voice, and the next firmware version I believe is set to improve it further.

Signal strength may be having an effect, especially if it is on the fence with 1 bar. Have you already installed this panel? Can you test this panel at an alternate location for better signal strength?

Hi Warren,

Yes, the panel is fully installed on the wall with in wall wiring and everything so it would be difficult to move to another location.

More on the 2 way, it sounds like the CS is pressing a touch tone everytime they begin to speak and end speaking, thus why I was asking if this is not full duplex. Are you saying it should be full duplex right now on the GC3 with the most current firmware or this is coming soon?

Is there a way to test 2 way voice without an alarm? I would like to see if this was just a issolated incident and obtain some more information before I’d consider changing from the Verizon to ATT cell module. The Verizon module is very responsive to the Alarm.com app, within 2-4 seconds so the latency is very low there.

Full Duplex and manual control are both options. Typically full duplex is used, but operators can attempt manual control if there is trouble connecting. Full Duplex should typically be used depending on the signal that comes in.

In fact, yes. If you would like to perform a test, please submit the phone number you would like to receive the 2-Way call via secure message. Our team will then email instructions to initiate a call.

Hi Warren,

When you say submit the phone number for 2 way call I am confused. The 2 way is through the panel and I am not aware of a phone number associated with it? Thanks

Ah, to clarify: the test would involve a standard phone receiving the call from the panel. You can provide a cell phone number to receive the call. Please submit the phone number you wish to have contacted by the panel during the test and notify us that you wish to test 2-way. Further instructions will be emailed. This does not require an alarm being generated and is a separate test.
