Configure a video recording rule for the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 camera

The Qolsys IQ Panel 4 can leverage the panel camera to capture video clips using event-triggered recording rules. Recording rules are created using the Alarm.com website.

Clips are recorded at 720p and can be viewed/downloaded from the Saved Clips section using the Alarm.com mobile app or Alarm.com website.

Limitations

The following are some limitations of the IQ Panel 4 camera:

  • Only video clip uploads are available for the panel camera. Live stream is not available.
  • Video clips from the panel camera do not have audio.
  • Purple hues may display in video clip uploads when the panel is in low light conditions.

Requirements

Panel

  • Qolsys IQ Panel 4 with firmware version 4.3.0+.

Panel settings

  • Panel must be connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Panel camera must be enabled.
  • Panel motion detector must be disabled.

Service package

  • Must have a video service package or add-on. Through Surety that includes:
    • Surety Protect or Surety Complete
    • Surety Alarm or Surety Home with Surety View Video add-on
  • Using the Qolsys IQ Panel 4 to capture clips will occupy one camera slot in the service package limit.

Enable the panel camera

The panel camera must first be enabled as a video device on the Alarm.com website to configure recording rules for the device.

To enable the panel camera on the account:

  1. Log into the Alarm.com website.
  2. Click Video.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Add Video Device.
  5. Name the panel camera.
  6. Click Enable

To configure recording rules:

  1. Log into the Alarm.com website,
  2. Click Video.
  3. Click Recording Rules.
  4. Click Add New Rule.
  5. Click to select the type of rule to create. The rule types made available are based on what is enrolled on their system (e.g., Alarm, Sensor Opened or Closed, etc.).
  6. Enter a name for the recording rule.
  7. Configure the rule settings as desired. Rule settings depend on which rule is being created.
  8. Verify the panel camera is selected to be used on the recording rule.
  9. In Video Clip Recipients, click Add if the user wants to receive notifications.
  10. Click Save Rule.
