Concord 4 Alarm System Replacement and Upgrade to Surety

I am looking to replace my CPI Security Concord 4 based alarm system. CPI installed a system that included cellular communication and two-way voice about 12 years ago. The service was good throughout the years, but now is the time for me to update and take control of my system.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could look at my current system and provide recommendations for a replacement system. I also have some additional questions at the end.

Present System – We use the Stay No Delay feature the most (Press Stay and 4) the system would arm to stay with no delay and no countdown. When going out we used the standard Away feature (Press Away). Finally, we liked the ability to disarm the panel silently by Pressing *5 then Disarm then the code which resulted in a silent disarm.

These are the system components:

  • CPI Concord 4 Alarm Panel with daughter board

  • CPI - ADC-200M-EVD-L GSM Cell Radio

  • 2-way Comm Integrator Module

  • 2 – wired keypads - replace

  • 1 – wired internal siren – DSC SD15W-ULF – will keep

  • 1 – wired external siren – located in eave of attic and I can’t determine brand or current rating

  • 1 – wired smoke detector – will replace with System Sensor

  • 1 – wired motion detector – will keep

  • 2 - wired entry doors – will keep

  • 13 – wired windows divided into two zones All the windows have their own sensor and hardwire (I plan to divide the windows into 8 zones)

  • 1 – entry door wired contact to wireless using GE 319.5 Crystal Maxlife Door/Window Wireless Sensor 60-362N transmitter located in the wall box behind the main keypad – will keep

  • 1 – Interlogix 60-873-95 Wireless Glass Break – will keep

  • 1 – Interlogix 600-6520-95 Wireless Carbon Monoxide Alarm – will keep

  • 1 – Interlogix 2 button Keyfob either 60-707-01-95R or 60-832-95R no marking on device – will keep

Here are pictures of the old system Concord 4 and GSM Comm, pictures of the other components are available if needed:

New System

I would like to use the existing wiring for windows, doors (except the door wired to the wireless door sensor), Motion detector, internal and/or external sirens, and new wired smoke detector.

One possible configuration I have looked at is:

  • Qolsys IQ Panel 4 as the main panel by entry door (Use existing keypad wires for power)

  • Qolsys IQ Hardwire 16-F Large Enclosure for wired doors, windows, motion detector, new smoke detector and siren.

  • Qolsys IQ Remote PowerG for second panel upstairs (when available).

Questions:

  1. Will the Interlogix CO Detector, Glass Break, Wireless door transmitter for the Garage Door and Keyfob work with the IQ 4 Panel (IQP4001)?

  2. Siren Question – Can I use both sirens on the 16-F or would I need to add a relay and power supply to use both, if not would I be able to use just the interior DSC siren?

  3. Does the IQ 4 Panel come with the default installer and dealer codes? Does the panel come with all the factory default settings?

  4. Can you suggest an order for the installation? (i.e., Should I install the Hardwire 16-F first, then install and activate the IQ 4? Then learn in the 16-F. Then learn in the wireless items.

  5. To learn in the wireless door contact which will be located directly behind the IQ 4, can I run the IQ 4 on battery and still use the learn in function?

  6. How long does it take to receive the hardware after order placement?

  7. When does the Surety service trial start?

  8. Do you have yard signs and stickers?

  9. Any other tips, hints, or suggestions?

Thanks in advance for all replies.

Will the Interlogix CO Detector, Glass Break, Wireless door transmitter for the Garage Door and Keyfob work with the IQ 4 Panel (IQP4001)?

Existing 319.5mhz wireless sensors can be used. Officially tested and compatible devices are in the list below.

Siren Question – Can I use both sirens on the 16-F or would I need to add a relay and power supply to use both, if not would I be able to use just the interior DSC siren?

You would need a separate power supply. I would recommend that even for just the DSC siren. For both it would definitively be needed. You would need to confirm the model number of the exterior siren to know for sure if another relay is needed. The siren relay on the Hardwire 16F is rated up to 1 amp.

Does the IQ 4 Panel come with the default installer and dealer codes? Does the panel come with all the factory default settings?

Yes. Users manage all codes and settings.

Can you suggest an order for the installation? (i.e., Should I install the Hardwire 16-F first, then install and activate the IQ 4? Then learn in the 16-F. Then learn in the wireless items.

There is no standard order, but I would power up the panel first. Typically I would program hardwire zones first as they are likely commonly used zones like doors and windows.

To learn in the wireless door contact which will be located directly behind the IQ 4, can I run the IQ 4 on battery and still use the learn in function?

Yes.

How long does it take to receive the hardware after order placement?

Orders are processed within one business day and shipped ground from the closest warehouse. Usually a few days.

When does the Surety service trial start?

Your first month begins when you activate service on our website. You can activate at any time 24/7 after receiving the panel.

Do you have yard signs and stickers?

Yes, a complimentary welcome kit with a sign and stickers is sent to new users.

Any other tips, hints, or suggestions?

If the CO detector was installed with the system 12 years ago it is probably expired. They generally have a 5 or 10 year life span, after which they are no longer sensitive enough. The replace by date will be printed on the unit.

Same goes for smoke detectors.
