This afternoon I came home to my kidde kn-cosm-iba smoke/co detector chirping a low battery. Even after I changed the battery the chirping persisted. The detector is 7 years old so I’m figuring it’s time to replace. My question is once the new kiddie co/smoke detector arrives is there anything software/device changes I need to make in my system or is it as simple as plugging in the new detector?
There is also a standalone CO detector at the top of my stairwell but that one has been replaced within the last couple of years
For a wired AC smoke detector be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for physical replacement.
Do you use a Firefighter to monitor those wired AC detectors? There would not be any changes needed with regard to your alarm system or programming in that case, the Firefighter sensor would be the device communicating with the panel, just listening for the smoke detector sirens to sound.
