CDMA communicator

There is talk of the cellular communications companies phasing out 3g and 4g service in favor of 5g starting in 2022. Will this affect any of the panels (GC2, etc…)?

Thanks,

db

3G is in its sunset. Quarter 1 2022 for AT&T 3G modules and Q4 2022 for Verizon 3G modules (and T-Mobile 2G). This affects all Alarm.com panels using 2G/3G. An upgrade to 4G LTE will be necessary. Depending on your area, you may notice a drop in signaling prior to these dates as infrastructure is reallocated.

4G LTE is not being phased out nor are there any 5G Alarm.com modules announced at this time.

How can we tell whether we have a 4g module installed?

Thanks,
db

Records indicate that you have a 4G LTE module installed.

Physically you can confirm by checking the module itself. 3G has one antenna attached and 4G LTE has 2. More information can be found below:

I appreciate the assist.

Thank you,
