Can't link FireFighter sensor to IQ2 Panel

Just bought the FireFighter sensor and followed the instructions/videos to enroll it to the IQ panel but the sensor was not enrolled. I did run the auto learn and opened the sensor case to make it discoverable but it was not detected. Once I enter in auto learn the panel says “It is not possible to enroll an image sensor on this panel since the hardware necessary is not present.” I tried enrolling the sensor manually by entering the DL number and I was able to get it added to the devices list but the sensor does not work. Went to tests and the sensor is grayed out not showing signal. After adding it, the alarm triggers a faulty condition after 4 hours on the clock. Something is not connecting well. Panel is IQ2 from Brinks Home Security.

Just to be certain of compatibility, can you confirm the exact model number of the panel you are using? There are a few different legacy radios that IQ Panels may have depending on the model, and the order I see related to this Surety user is the 319.5Mhz Firefighter.

If you have a 345Mhz or 433Mhz panel, this sensor would not work.

When adding sensors, if you select the Source option on the sensor programming screen, what are the source options in the select box?

After lot of checking, it looks like my panel is a legacy Quolcom IQ2 at SDR-433 Mhz. There are two options in the device “source” option field: SRF-AT&T-433 or Power G. Based on this, I assume the FireFighter SLX-AD-T3 audio detector won’t work with my panel since it is 319.5 Mhz.

Could you recommend an alternative smoke alarm audio sensor that would work with my panel? Thanks.

One more, sorry. I called Brinks and they offered me a sensor. I was about to purchase but asked what model it was. It was the same SLX-AD-T3 I bought from SuretyHome. I ended up not buying it. It looks there is a way for Brinks to make the sensor work with the IQ2 panel I have. Any thoughts on how to accomplish this?

Life safety devices cannot be translated with a translator. I wouldn’t know how they are planning to make it work without having to replace all your sensors and/or panel.

Let us know if you have any additional questions

Thank you

I got you. Is there any alternative?

You would need to change the panel to a 319.5 frequency to use the 319.5 firefighter. This might also require you to change your sensors out to 319.5.

Someone recommended I add a QC0001-840 card to my panel to enable 319.5 MHZ. I am willing to try that. I understand I will need to remove the Z-Wave card currently in the panel, but hoping to keep the Power G one. Do you think this could work? Do you guys sell this card?

You can only have one legacy card on the IQ Panel. You will need to remove the 433Mhz Card to install the 319.5Mhz Card. You could use a translator like the RE524X to change your current sensors from 433 to 319.5 but that will require you to delete and reprogram all your sensors.
