Can I bypass a sensor?

Not sure if this is possible, but I would like to setup my panel so that my alarm is not triggered when a shed door or shed motion sensor reports activity.

I do not want to delete the sensors because I would still like to receive alerts when there is activity. I just don’t want it to affect the alarm trigger.

Can I do that through the alarm.com site or do I need to tweak the panel or is it not possible?

Yes, you can program the zones at the panel for Zone type (23) No Response Type, which will allow Alarm.com notifications and chimes but will never generate an alarm.

Enter system configuration on the panel and go to the sensor zone, the first question for each zone will be the zone type. Change to 23. Select Contact for the door and Motion for the motion detector under equipment type. Then save.

OK great. Thank you.

Hope it’s okay to revive this thread… I have this same question – need to bypass is a door sensor out in my garage (Honeywell sensor, run through a RE524X translator, to Qolsys IQ Panel 4) – but I don’t seem to have a Zone 23 available in my device settings. Actually, I can’t find anything related to “zones” in the settings at all, although I did find “Sensor Groups,” which seem to be the same thing (maybe?). But there isn’t any 23 or “No Response Type” that I can find, nor can I find any way to add a new group. What are my options here?

This thread is referencing 2GIG sensor types.

For Qolsys, the same can be done using Sensor Group 25. That sensor group can be used for chimes, notifications, and rules in Alarm.com but will never cause an alarm.

Ah, okay, I was assuming the “zone” thing was just Alarm.com lingo. I was thinking Group 25 might be what I wanted, but wasn’t sure. Perfect, thanks for such a quick response!

For Qolsys iqpanel4 users, can this type of configuration change of a sensor be accomplished via the alarm.com mobile app?

No, sensor programming is not available in the user app.
