Camera install

Just got my Quolsys IQ4 panel up and running finally and installing the VDB camera. Camera powers on, light is blinking white, wireless network appears and I kick off the installation process.

I’ve restarted my phone, the Camera itself probably 4 times. The installation process shows 0% and after 8-10 minutes fails. Consistently. What am i doing wrong?

Everything tests fine for the camera, wifi speeds, power, etc…

Are you installing it with the app or the website?

If it’s the app, try installing it with the website. I’ve seen people say they get better error messages that way.

It looks like a VDB750 was successfully added to your account. Are you still having any issues?

Hey Jason, i added it to the website from my laptop and it worked much better. Camera works now. One question for you specific to the camera - Hope you can help:

  1. The Camera sits right outside the front door on the right.
  2. The panel is directly inside of the front door on the right.
  3. The wifi router is near the back door, about 25-30 feet away from the Panel.
  4. When I attempt to view/connect to the front camera from the panel, it rarely connects and when it does (after saying “connecting” for 5-10 seconds), its very choppy.
  5. This leads me to believe that the camera may not be communicating over wifi successfully right? There’s no way the panel should take 5-10 seconds to display the view from the camera right?
  6. I ran the wifi test on the panel and it checks out fine.

Anything else I should check Jason?

About 5 seconds delay is expected usually, the camera is not streaming to the panel constantly so it needs to connect at first.

If you notice connection failures this may indicate you have weak connectivity at the camera and/or the panel.

To ensure the best connectivity, usually it is best to have both the camera and the panel on a 2.4Ghz SSID. 5Ghz bands have shorter range and the doorbell and panel must be on the same network to successfully stream.

This means a unique 2.4Ghz SSID is needed. Often by default routers will set up 2.4 and 5 bands with the same SSID.

Your Video doorbell shows as connecting to a 5Ghz band right now.

This is exactly the problem i’m seeing. I actually did split the 2.4 and 5 on my TP Link deco mesh but I fear that 2.4 also has weak connectivity at the panel/camera. I will purchase an extender or another deco and see if that solves it. Thank you Jason.
