I noticed on the Qolsys IQ2+ panel the zwave device capabilities seem to be available. Does this mean I can connect my zwave devices and set up automation? The “scenes” function on the ADC app seems available as well.
I currently have the Surety Alarm plan-- what exactly would be the benefit of upgrading to the plan that includes automation?
I currently use Samsung Smart things to control/automate lighting in our home.
If u upgrade to the plan that offers automation it would allow same features but also allow 1 app to control everything plus u can even control devices from the keypad it self
Device control from the panel is available regardless of the service plan, but the service plan is needed for all Alarm.com controls. The Surety Home service plan adds remote automation through Alarm.com, control through the app, schedules, rules, etc.
Scenes can only be created to control things you have installed and synced with Alarm.com. Almost all require a plan that supports Automation.
- Security systems (arming)
- Locks
- Garage doors
- Thermostats
- Z-Wave lights
- Lutron lights and shades
- Water valves
- Sonos speakers
- Legrand speakers
Ok thanks.
So let’s say I want to connect my thermostat to the panel and have the temp set to 65 when the panel arms. Would that be possible with out the automation surety plan? Or would that be considered a “rule” and need support from ADC (and therefore automation plan)?
All Alarm.com rules and schedules for automation devices, including thermostat schedules and Smart Away (arming overrides) require a service plan that includes automation.
Surety Home (or Complete) would be required instead of Alarm.
If you choose a service plan that doesn’t include automation rules, the panel itself has some extremely rudimentary automation that can be applied to Z-wave light switches. (not thermostats)
