In this article you guys posted (https://support.suretyhome.com/t/how-to-view-alarm-mode-in-alarm-com-mobile-app) The picture shows that in an alarm the verbal passcode is going to be shown??? That seems like a really dumb idea incase an intruder takes the mobile phone or it is a domestic violence situation such as this youtube video from and ADT scenario ( ADT Lifesaver Spokane, WA (youtube.com)
This seems like it could be very dangerous as it would not give someone in the above scenario a chance to use their verbal durress code or wrong passcode to get the police dispatched. PLEASE forward this to ADC as feature feedback.
Agreed. When we’ve tested this feature we haven’t seen the verbal password in Alarm Mode which I assume means our central station didn’t add it to the integration, which is good. We don’t want the verbal password shown in Alarm Mode.
We’re happy to pass along your feedback.
I had the same reaction you did. However, it is not an issue on our accounts at this time. Alarm mode does not display passwords on accounts through Surety. That particular feature requires a separate integration to be enabled which we do not use. We instead give a bit more granular and customized control within the system manager.
It was pointed out to me that in a duress situation the intruder could make you press the Alarm Mode button to cancel the alarm without using a verbal password so duress words might be of limited usefulness with Alarm Mode. Ideally it would be configurable and the user would choose whether they want it displayed but it doesn’t look like that’s an option at this time.
Perfect! Thank you guys for looking out for safety!
I guess if anyone has this concern they could always do like i did and request the no disregard per abort so they still get a phone call. Glad I did now!
