ALARM.COM No Longer Available on Google Assistant

Is alarm.com done working with google assistant? My connection stopped working a few days ago. I have found a tech bulletin from google saying they are discontinuing conversational actions on the assistant platform as of 06/13/2023. I am not a developer so i don’t understand the bulletin and how it pertains to my alarm.com connection no longer working. If this is something that has affected the working relation between google and alarm.com, is something in the works to get assistant working again? I have seen other reports of this exact symptom in the past on other forums and alarm.com had the problem rectified and the assistant started communicating with alarm.com again, and alarm.com was added back to the list of available partners.

I haven’t seen any official word from ADC that Google Home integration would be impacted, but with Google’s record of discontinuing products and services I wouldn’t necessarily be surprised.

Can you link the tech bulletin you are referencing?

No, that notice looks like it is unrelated to smart home controls and would affect different integrations.

I am not seeing a Surety subscription tied to your username. If you do not use Surety as your provider, I would recommend reaching out to your Alarm.com service provider to help restore functionality of any integrations.

Jason, thanks for your input. I currently am with another provider, but their customer service and understanding of tech is less than desirable. M I am not even a customer of Surety and you guys respond quicker than my provider. I am prepaid through the end of the year and then I will be switching over.

My provider just confirmed that alarm.com does not work with google assistant any longer because of the converstaional action sunset. They hope to figure something out in the future… thanks again for your responses.

Yep, I actually just found that in a new announcement this week in Alarm.com.

Google is ending support of conversational actions for Google Home and Google Assistant users on June 13, 2023. This change ends Alarm.com’s support of voice commands for home automation actions using the Google Assistant feature and Google Home device. Alternatively, you can encourage your customers to use Apple Siri or Amazon Alexa for voice control of their Alarm.com smart homes.

They called out Smart Home actions as being unaffected in that Google bulletin, but I guess CA is used in Alarm.com integration.

Interesting and unfortunate. Thanks for your follow up!
