Alarm.com app and widgets on IOS 18

Anyone have any insight as to when alarm.com will support widgets on IOS 18? I am so used to swiping right to my Today Screen and using the widget to open the garage door and set the alarm. This functionality seems to be gone with IOS 18 / iPhone 16.

Apple ended support of all legacy iOS widgets with iOS 18, including the Alarm.com widget.

Alarm.com has stated that a replacement is coming soon, though I do not yet have an ETA.

New Apple widgets were announced and should be rolling out within the next few weeks.

Thank you for the follow up. Always a pleasure to deal with your company.

The new widget for iOS 18 was released today with an app update. However, you cannot tell the state of the alarm system from the widget - not at a glance and not even after you tap a button. So you end up having to go to the app anyway.

For me it shows the arming status but when I tap it to arm or disarm it just says sent and it doesn’t seem to update the status again until I open the app.

I think the reason the Alarm.com widget doesn’t show arming status after you send a command is because iOS won’t let it.

It can’t assume the command succeeded. But it also can’t frequently check for updates because of the iOS budget for updates. So it has to wait until iOS lets it check, which could be 15 min to an hour or so, unless you open the Alarm.com app.

It would be nice if iOS would let it schedule a single update like 30 seconds after it sends the command. Apparently that’s not possible in the current API.
