I have been thinking about getting an air quality sensor and found a Z-Wave option (MH9-CO2-WD), but I am not sure if it would even be supported by the IQ panel. Does anyone have much experience with these types of sensors, Z-Wave or otherwise?
I doubt a z-wave sensor like that would work with Qolsys panels. It would depend on what device class the sensor reported as but unless it shows up as a switch, probably not.
Are there any good air quality sensors that have a dry contact output? If so, you could connect that to the wired sensor input of an IQ Mini Extended.
This one says it does. But I have no idea how much it costs and I haven’t done a thorough search for others.
If you go this route, make sure to program it for sensor activity monitoring only, not as a security or life safety sensor. You wouldn’t want the police or fire department dispatched because of the weather.
Z-wave sensors are not compatible in general. Z-wave is used for automation devices like lights, locks, thermostats, water valves, etc., but with a few specific exceptions like the Alarm.com temp sensor, Z-wave sensors won’t work.
The above user’s suggestion would be the route I would recommend. Use Sensor Group 25 for a notification only zone type.
