Adding Remote Temperature Sensor

I am needing two temperature sensor for my upstairs. The thermostat is in the hallway above entry way and is likely reading several degrees warmer than our rooms with multiple vents. I would like the HVAC to heat/cool based on the temperature in the game room and our daughters room. I am assuming this can be done by incorporating the sensors.

I see the ADC-S40-T and ADC-S2000-T sensors for sale in various places. Which one incorporates better into the ADC-T3000 thermostat.

Thanks y’al!!

I see that the S40-T replaced the 2000 series, but does it work better than the S2000?

If you have older T3000 one thing to check which would affect any temp sensor is the version of the T3000.

A thermostat with firmware version 1.20+ is required. 1.50+ is needed for humidity features.

  • Press the menu button.
  • Select ABOUT.
  • Select VERSION.
  • MFW Version.

The S40T is the newer of the temp sensors and supports humidity sensing as well. I would generally recommend the S40-T, but I would caution against buying used ones on ebay etc. Some early S40-T sensors have a potential issue with reporting incorrect extreme temperature values, this could occur on units loaded with pre-1.1 firmware. New S40-T sensors would be unaffected.

The firmware on our T3000 is 1.20

Is there a way to upgrade to the latest version on the thermostat?

This is generally not supported. On the IQ Panel 4 4.6.1 firmware they added support for Z-wave OTA, but only two specific devices have an update supported in this way so far.

The T3000 does not have an update option currently.

Hopefully it gets supported at some point in the future.

I really only need it for temp and hvac purposes.

Based on what you posted, I’m assuming I should be good to go.

Cheers,
