Adding a Z-Wave Switch to my system

How do I go about adding a switch back on the network. I recently had to replace a switch on the front porch and I can no longer control it. Is there any way someone could help me out. Thanks.

Happy to assist!

When adding a Z-wave switch on a 2GIG panel, you’ll want to follow these steps:

  • Navigate to Services -> Z-Wave -> Click Wrench Icon.

  • Then Click Remove Device, at your z-wave switch toggle the inclusion button/switch until the device is
removed at the panel. This ensures that the z-wave device you are trying to add is not already learned
    into another mesh network.

  • Now, at the panel, click Add Device then click the inclusion button/toggle the switch to learn the z-wave
    device into the panel.

  • Lastly, Run a Network Rediscovery to make sure all of the Z-wave devices are communicating correctly. This is
an important step to do every time you add or remove a z-wave device from your mesh network.
The network rediscovery is located in the advanced toolbox in the Z-wave menu.

Do you still have the z-wave switch that you removed from the network initially? Was it removed from the mesh network via the panel or just physically removed? When removing a z-wave device you always want to remove it from the panel first before physically removing the device.

Tyler,
Thanks for the information unfortunately I am not to savy with technology. I tried to understand everything but it just confused me. If I am supposed to have a panel, I have no idea where it is. When replacing the switch the electricians removed the switch physically and took it with him.

The panel referenced above would be your main security panel. Records indicate that you are utilizing a 2GIG GC2 Panel. This would be where you would add/remove a z-wave device at.

Do you know the make/model of the device you are trying to add?

Additionally, what is the ID of the device that was removed by the electricians?

This video may shed some light on the z-wave pairing process. Keep in mind, this is how to learn in a different kind of switch then what you are looking to add, but the process at the panel is the same. As stated above it is always a good idea to remove the z-wave device through the panel first, before adding it.
