ADC3000 aux/emergency heat set point

We have a newer system in the Savannah ga with 2 ADC3000 thermostats. Is it required to set a low outside temperature on both thermostats when to switch over to emergency heat ( i see no aux heat on the mode) to prevent damage to the HVAC system, or is that something that will atomically occur? Meaning will the hvac system (American standard) automatically switch it to protect it self or will in continue to run with the compressor risking damage (meaning will the thermostat be the master controlling that if its not set)?

It sounds like you are asking whether a heat pump will kick on and do you need to make any further changes to stop that. I am copying some info from ADC documentation below, I think this answers the question you are asking. The outside heat pump will not run if you are running Emergency heat:

Emergency Heat, labeled EMER, is specific to heat pump systems where the heat pump is bypassed and only Auxiliary Heat is used for heating.

Heat pumps become less effective at heating when the outside temperature gets too cold, so Emergency Mode bypasses the heat pump to heat the building quicker. This mode is meant to be used during the coldest days of the year in the relatively temperate climates where heat pumps are used.

Let me know if this does not answer the question.

Thank you Jason, you hit one of my questions. So I know I can manually set it to emergency heat, but will it automatically switch to AUX heat when it dips to cold outside?
I dont believe it will if the balance point is not enable correct?
Here is a quick screen shot of one of the thermostats, but I believe I would need to enable that, and set that balance point (which I believe is the outside temperature it will disable the heat pump and use aux/emergency heat, correct)? Mainly I’m trying to protect my unit from premature failure

If you are not manually setting it on emergency heat, you would need to configure the Balance Point to bypass the heat pump based on temperature.

When you click the Enable option for Balance Point, you will be able to select the temperature value below it. Temps below that value would bypass the heat pump.

Balance Point is only available for Alarm.com Smart Thermostats with firmware 1.50+.

Thank you. So checking on my adc3000, since it has 1.4, even if the feature is present through alarm.com in the config (seen above), it would not operate, correct?

I would expect it not to show up actually. Is that the MFW value?

I believe so. Thats why I was surprised it was available through the URL options, but I dont see a place to set it on the actual thermostat itself
HFW 1.40
RFW:1.30
ZFW:1.44
HW:8

Alarm.com got back to me and stated that the Balance Point feature works on all versions for the T3000, T40K, and T25 at this time. The T2000 is the only thermostat with version limitations according to ADC.

Thank you Jason, I appreciate you confirming!
