trying to install the AI doorbell with the digital power module. my transformers and my furnace closet and is 16 volts and 10 amps. here’s a picture of my chime. was previously using a nest doorbell. that worked fine.
confirmed I have 16 V power to the bracket to install the doorbell but getting no power when I snap it on. camera does power on when connected to micro USB. is this a power module issue?
Since you have the correct digital chime power module and you’re reading 16V at the bracket, we’d like to take a closer look at the rest of the wiring. Could you please send us photos of:
The transformer: the wiring at the doorbell transformer in your furnace closet, showing which wires connect to each terminal.
Behind the doorbell: the wiring at the doorbell bracket, showing how the wires connect to the bracket’s terminals.
Also, please make sure the doorbell is fully seated and clicked onto the bracket, and that the terminal screws are tight on the wires.
Test with the chime bypassed
You can also try connecting the doorbell straight to the transformer. This takes the chime and power module out of the circuit, which tells us where the problem is:
Turn off power to the doorbell transformer at the breaker.
At the chime, disconnect the wires from the TRANS and FRONT terminals and connect those two wires together, for example with a wire nut.
Turn the power back on and snap the doorbell onto the bracket.
If the doorbell powers on: the issue is with the chime or power module wiring.
If it still doesn’t power on: the issue is likely the transformer, the wiring, or the doorbell itself.
The chime won’t ring during this test, so once you’re done, reconnect the wires to the chime the way they were.
Once we have the photos and test results, we’ll help you get the doorbell powered up.
was playing around with the bracket more and pulled out the contacts just a bit more and now they make contact with the doorbell and it’s working as intended. thanks for the help.
