ADC-V720W night vision problem

One of my outdoor cameras is a ADC-V720W. I am noticing that the night vision is not working and during live view I will see a black screen even though it is on a porch with railings just a few feet away that should be “illuminated” by the night vision. In recorded clips it will be black until a light comes on that activated the motion clip. I tried to attach the video to this but I see that is not possible. I did attempt to “restart” the camera by unplugging, waiting and plugging back in but that did not resolve the issue. Any suggestions?

I’m having the same issue, intermittently, with a 522. I haven’t taken action yet, because its random, but, it could be related to power supply. Mine is wired up to the mechanical room (about 50 feet away) using the original adaptor. Do you hear the clicking when the night vision should turn on and off?

Does the camera work just fine during normal lighting conditions? Can you view Live View and request clips?

What happens if you adjust the Night Vision Sensitivity to High? This can be done through Video Device Settings > Video Device Image through Alarm.com.

You will also want to make sure that Turn Off Video Device IR LEDs has not been checked (In Video Device Settings > Device Info)

Hi Tyler,

Thanks for your quick response. To answer your questions:
Yes, it works fine during normal lighting conditions.
I can view Live View during the day and the image is excellent.
The LEDs were not turned off.
I took your advice and turned up the Night Vision Sensitivity to High and will report back to you tomorrow if that helped tonight.

Thanks, again.

To the other poster’s point, just in case, how long is the power cable for that camera? What gauge cable is used?

Hi Tyler,

Changing the sensitivity to high definitely helps. It’s not quite as “illuminated” as my 722 camera but it’s more than adequate. In the attached pic the V720W is the center image.

I’m glad to hear that the High sensitivity settings seems to be working out. However, did the 720W always look dark when Night Vision Sensitivity was set to normal, or was this a recent occurrence?
