ADC Thermostat App Question

It would be best to try some troubleshooting steps based on what we are seeing.

  1. Disable and Re-enable Push Notifications in your App.
  2. Delete and recreate the notification.

Also, do you have any other Apps on your phone using push notifications? Can you verify whether or not all of those are working as expected?

Completed the steps. Yes all other apps push notifications work fine.

Now I’m not getting the notifications I was getting from for app.

The other notifications are working now. Need to test arm notification and will update you. For now, the thermostat section in the app is still not right. I pulled down to refresh that in the app and it shows updated time stamp but the readings aren’t correct. The app shows mode is cool which is correct but that current temp is 68 and target temp is 65. The actual thermostat shows current temp 67.5 and target temp 67. I am not worried about the .5 as I’m not even sure the app supports it but this shows it’s not pulling correct info. I’m sure if I double clicked and closed the app out and opened it up that it would update correctly. Attached is a screen shot of app and a pic of my thermostat at same time.

Checking back on this.

We are discussing these issues with Alarm.com regarding App status updates.

Were you indeed able to collect the proper status by closing and reopening the app?

Also, we do not see it in the thread, but have you updated to the most recent version of the IOS Alarm.com app? A new version was released shortly before the holiday.

Knowing the app version will help us troubleshoot, and if you still need to update, that may affect the symptoms you are seeing.

Yes if I close the app by double clicking and closing and its correct when I reopen it. I checked in the App Store and it shows it updated 12/17 to 3.2.8.

I’ve been unable to replicate this at all.

Your Zwave diagnostics do not indicate signal issues, but based on your description of the issue when it goes away and returns it seems to suggest this is the underlying issue. Your thermostat does indicate it was learned in on battery, so something I would definitely suggest is removing and relearning the thermostat while it is powered via AC from the HVAC.

This is especially important since I do not see any other repeating devices to assist communication.

So how do I do this? Go under zwave on the panel and delete the thermostat? Then add it back? It’s hooked up to the wires so should be on AC.

It likely is currently powered on AC, but if it was learned in on battery, most thermostats’ Zwave radio does not act as a repeater and will operate in a power save mode most of the time.

Yeah, you would access Services - Zwave - Wrench Icon - Installer Code - Remove Device. Perform the learn function on the thermostat.

Wait five minutes, then Services - Zwave - Wrench Icon - Installer Code - Add Device. Perform the learn function on the thermostat.

But I wouldn’t do the learn function right after deleting right? I’d wait 5 mins then do it. I’m asking cause you listed it twice.

The process on the panel is different depending if you are removing or adding, but on the zwave device it is the same pair process for both (CT100 = Menu, Mate X2, for example)

I’m at the panel tryouts my to remove the thermostat and went to Services – Zwave – Wrench Icon – Installer Code – Remove Device. It just says discovering devices and my thermostat never comes up? Attached is screenshot.

Correct, You must perform the pair procedure on the thermostat while the panel is looking for devices to remove.

access Services – Zwave – Wrench Icon – Installer Code – Remove Device. Perform the learn function on the thermostat.

Wait five minutes, then Services – Zwave – Wrench Icon – Installer Code – Add Device. Perform the learn function on the thermostat.

Ok so I took the covers off the thermostat and there’s not a C wire which I think is what powers it. Attached is a pic of wires on thermostat. There’s a blue wire that is not hooked up to anything and wasn’t on the old thermostat. I got in the attic to see if that blue wire was hooked to the C at the furnace and it’s not hooked up to anything. At the furnace. There’s two sets of wires at the board. The not coming from the thermostat and one going to the other side of house where the A/C is. The set going towards the AC has a red and white wire. The red is hooked to the C terminal and the white is hooked to the same terminal that the yellow Y thermostat wire is. Any ideas?

I was thinking of taking the blues wire not used and hooking it to the C at the furnace with the red wire that’s already there. Then hook the blue end up at the C on my thermostat. But I’m not an electrician so not sure.

There’s a jumper on the thermostat from RH to RC which on the furnace is labeled R. But I’m guessing that’s not the power is it?

Here’s the pic at the furnace.

C does indeed complete the circuit for power. The blue wire would be used in this case the way you describe.

Yes, the two-conductor wire would likely be going to your ac unit and should not be changed.

Make sure to disconnect power to the HVAC prior to wiring up the thermostat.

So I should take the unused blue wire at the furnace and attach it to C with the red wire that’s there? Then attach the other end of blue to my thermostat?

Yes. C-terminal on both ends. Red wire stays on the HVAC C as well. Make sure the HVAC is powered down.

You will then be able to test for power between your RH and C terminal with a multimeter if you have one. You can also remove all the batteries from the thermostat and see if it powers up with just AC to verify you have power to it.
