ADC Not Updating Sensor Status

Hi everyone,

I set up a 2Gig GC2 Panel with 5 2Gig Thin Door Sensors and 1 Pet Immune Motion Sensor. I misunderstood the instructions and put the door sensors one Loop 1, and they consistently stayed open once the Sensor was triggered.

The issue was resolved when I switched them to Loop 2. However, I just activated my monitoring yesterday, and the Alarm.com app keeps showing me that sensors on my system are open, even though my panel says they are closed. What would cause this? Everything is brand new, and they are in a small office, all sensors are withing 40 feet of the panel. The motion detector seems fine, but the door sensors will not close on the website.

Note: Last night every door would not close. After arming and disarming and opening and closing doors, it seems that a few of them finally updated in the app, but 2 are still showing open on the app while the panel shows them closed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have actually sent a couple commands to pull current settings because Loop 1 was still showing for the sensors, but it looks like the panel only responded to the first few commands. Communication may be the underlying issue in this case.

Just to verify, since this is a 2GIG LTE module, do you have both antennae connected firmly to the module? Both are required.

Can you run a Cell Phone Test at your panel? If successful that should force these commands through. After we can send a few commands to help resync.

Ok thank you! I am out of the office for a the majority the day but as soon as I can I will do another cell test. The cell test yesterday was successful, and I was showing 27/31 for the signal strength. Both antennas are properly connected to the module, one installed in the control panel and one is hanging down below the panel. I don’t have a lot of options for the antenna because at the location I had to install the panel I cannot run any cabling inside the wall.

The signal strength is very good and location is likely not an issue at all. Other things can cause an issue with communication, and we want to make sure the module properly synced with your Alarm.com account.

It may be an intermittent issue. Can you or someone else try opening and closing the sensors which show open now? Does the activity restore the status? I see activity for all of the sensors in history, and the two you mention last show as having just been left open. The close signal was not received.

Alarm.com sent a few commands in an attempt to clear and sync the status of devices. Can you open and close any sensors which do not currently show the proper status and verify that they then update?

Hi Jason,

I did a cell test and also opened and closed the sensors, seems to be working well except for one sensor. It is a door sensor, mounted to a metal door and the door appears to have been damaged a bit from a impact so I think it is not lining up close enough with the magnet resulting in a poor connection between magnet and sensor. I will try remounting it later.

One more thing, in our office, we have a main entrance door and a lobby, then 5 offices accessible through doors in the lobby. I want the “Arm Stay” to arm the entry door, and not the office doors (most office doors are kept open when folks are working in there). I’m not positive how the arm stay works, but it would be nice because we have some employees who work late in the evening and would like the entry door only to be armed. Is this possible?

Sure, you can do this by programming the interior office doors as Interior Followers (the same Zone Type you would use for motion detectors). See below for programming if they are DW10-345 sensors.

RF Sensor Type: (4) Interior Follower
RF Sensor Equipment Type: (1) Contact
RF Sensor Equipment Code: (0862) 2GIG Thin Door/Window Contact
RF Sensor Serial Number: Shift – Learn – Trip Sensor
RF Sensor Equipment Age: New
RF Sensor Loop Number: 2
RF Sensor Dialer Delay: Disabled
RF Sensor Voice Descriptor: As desired
RF Sensor Reports: Enabled
RF Sensor Supervised: Enabled
RF Sensor Chime: As desired, can be changed out of programming

This would give you Office Interior Doors which are only armed during “Arm Away” mode. Also, unlike perimeter sensors, if one is opened during an Entry/Exit countdown, the alarm will not be tripped.

Perfect! Thank you for the great support!
