770 Video Camera can not connect to WIFI

My Camera Doorbell well not connect to WiFi. It’s solid red. Tried holding it down so it blinks red and even longer to get it to blink alternating colors. Can’t joking its local WiFi under any of those circumstances. Disconnected power and repowered back up and still nothing. Tried manually entering SSID and that did not work. When searching for the SSID it gives me no options even though SSID’s are broadcasting

If you take that VDB770 off of its mount and bring it close to the router using a micro USB charger to power it temporarily, can it connect?

There are two bare low voltage wires.

I dont think that is an issue. I have full bars for numerous WiFi signals when I look at my iphone. The router is only about20 feet away.

There are three things I would like to rule out in this case to troubleshoot.

The first is proximity, the second is the power source itself, and last if the camera cannot connect at all when powered via micro usb and in close proximity then it probably points to either a potential new configuration incompatibility with the router or failed hardware.

I recommend checking if temporarily powering it via micro usb results in any change in behavior. That can help tell us what might be occurring.

Have you made any changes to your wifi network? When did this start?

OK, are you saying to strip the micro usb cable and then attach the wires to that, then plug into a usb adapter plugged into 120V standard plug>

I got an announcement on my ADC app about on Sunday I believe. No changes

There is a troubleshooting usb port.

Thanks. I could not determine where it is. Can you help me? I also can not figure out how to get the camera off the angle plate. Tried to figure it out from the instructions, but the instructions are a bit limited in my opinion.

The USB port is behind the camera and accessible once you remove it from the mount.

The back plate stays on the mount, you just need the front portion of the camera.

You can view the latches on the backplate in the diagram below. Use a small flat head screwdriver in the slot on the bottom to apply pressure and release the latch.

Thank you!

Just to be clear. I found the slot on the bottom. I am assuming I press up with a. Flat head and as I do that I rotate the camera out as if there were a hinge at the top of the camera?

How much pressure to apply to the slot with a flat head screwdriver. I assume I press and pull it out at the same time.

Just don’t want to break anything

You can pull outward on the bottom of the doorbell while applying a little upward pressure with the flat head screw driver, It should come off without too much struggle.

Got it connected by doing what you said. Looks like I have 80% connect and 5 ghz.

you still suggest moving this to 2.4 ?

I don’t know how to tell how many mbps is being transferred

Just to clarify, it was able to connect to wifi while on micro-usb power?

Now that it is connected to a network, if you reattach it to the mount in its permanent spot is it now able to boot up and connect?

If not, that suggests a power issue, or weak wifi signal at that spot.

In general I would recommend 2.4Ghz for the camera. 2.4 has a wider reach generally and better penetration outside.

I was able to connect on the micro USB and when mounted after that it is working again.

Little bit of lag to bring up video, (few seconds) but I think expecting it to instantly appear via the ADC app is unreasonable?

Yeah, a short delay when connecting to the stream is normal.

The wifi signal strength seems plenty strong enough currently, looking at your camera diagnostics. If you run into any issues I would recommend trying 2.4.
