5800PIR Sensor

All of a sudden a 5800PIR sensor that has been on my alarm system working fine for about 2 years started triggering for no reason. I took it down and cleaned the lens and blew out the inside to make sure no dust or bugs were inside the unit. Whenever I set the alarm to away this zone triggers within 5-8 minutes. It is not giving a “low bat” warning to the panel or keypad and nothing in the house or zone sensor area has changed.

Any ideas?

In addition to dust/debris, f the sensor is pointed toward a window or mounted near HVAC vents that could cause an false trigger.

Motion Detector False Alarms Is it mounted per manufacturer instructions? Each Motion Detector will be designed and tested with a specific mounting height. The manual will indicate how high to mount the detector on the wall. Mounting outside of that parameter may cause unexpected behavior. Make sure the detector is away from air vents, fans, and drafts.
