Hello all. I added a 2gig universal garage door opener to one of my openers a while ago and it works great. I ordered another one and added it to my second door opener. I can’t get it to work. After pushing the learn button and the key fob * button everything seems normal. Pushing the * button causes a click from the 2gig universal opener and a light flash, just like the other one that is functioning normally. The problem is that it does not open the door. In fact it causes the screen on the wall button to blink off and reset all the settings (I have the chamberlain with the wall button with a small screen that shows time/temp and program settings).
I’ve removed and reinstalled it to make sure everything is correct. Still having the same problem.
It’s a Chamberlain HD950WF. I’ll try to get a picture tomorrow. It is plugged in to the ceiling outlet and wired to the opener. The wires are in the same connectors as the wall button. The directions say polarity does not matter, however I reversed them just in case. That did not make a difference. Next, I’ll try swapping out with my other 2GIG Universal.
It does state in the HD950WF Manual that older chamberlain door controls and third party controls are not compatible with the overhead. You likely won’t be able to make use of a 2GIG universal with it.
It sounds like the 2GIG universal is shorting the power circuit to the wall button.
