I gave a 4 week old 2GIG “smoke ring” connected to my interconnected smoke alarms. Just now I got a low battery warning alert and then soon after an end of low battery alert. Seems to be OK now (I’m at work so can’t physically check the unit).
What could be going on? Battery should be good unless it was faulty or drained with the new unit I installed.
Any ideas or suggestions? Should I just replace the battery?
It could be the battery is borderline low, it is a backup battery for an AC device. Did you have any power outages recently? Or did you have that circuit turned off for any length of time?
The battery will drain very fast if no AC power is present, 7 days according to manual. Was the device powered on for a long period of time with just battery?
If you check the wiring, make sure to cut power first to the circuit. There may be a loose AC connection though if the battery is indeed draining.
Ultimately, you could test the battery voltage to be sure, but it might be good to just replace. If it occurs again you have a pattern.
I didn’t run on the battery alone for any length of time, maybe 5 minutes tops when installing it. I’ll check the wiring and probably just replace the battery.
