I just installed the 2GIG Fire Ring 2GIG-SDS1-345 on the ceiling above the panel. Upon trying to test using either the radio test on the ring itself or the test on the smoke detector the panel did not immediately respond. However at random intervals for 20 mins after I quit trying to test, the panel went alerted of fire alarm with all the bells and whistles attached with multiple connections with the CS. I went in and removed the the RF sensor number from the zone to hopefully prevent it from going off uncommanded.
My concern is that there is a serious delay with the panel responding to the signal from the fire ring or signal from the ring isn’t getting to the panel effectively? Has anyone had issues with the fire ring?
What loop number were you using in programming? Based on what you’ve described that would be the first thing I would double check.
See programming below.
Zone type: (9) 24 Hour Fire or (16) Fire with Verification (verification requires a full 30 seconds activation or twice within two minutes)
Equipment Code: Existing Smoke
Serial #: (learn in sensor)
Equipment age: new
Loop: 1
Descriptor:
Reports and Supervision: Enabled
It is Loop 1. The first couple of attempts were on zone type 16 Fire with Verification, and it wasn’t responding, tripping the test button twice within the 2 min or holding for 30 sec. I changed the zone type to 9 24 hr Fire and restarted the panel and still no immediate response. Then it started triggering when I walked away trying to search this forum for answers.
Just noticed your equipment code. The tag that came with the device said to set it as a Honeywell smoke detector on the 2GIG panel. Will the equipment code make that big of a difference?

This may seem a silly question, but you installed the Smoke Ring behind an existing 120VAC smoke detector, correct? Make sure all wiring is correct per the manual found here. Has neutral been connected? (White wire)

Equipment code should not make any difference in this case, no.
Yes the ring is installed under the existing interlinked smoke detector and circuit. I did verify with the multi meter that black was 120v to ground and black is to black white to white and yellow to red in my case since 14/3 romex was run for the circuit.
I think the best thing to do in this circumstance is place the CS account on test mode (you can call them directly per your welcome email) and relearn the sensor into the panel, then test again to verify the same or similar malfunction. Make sure to learn the sensor in with the button and not type in the serial. Is the learn procedure successful?
The smoke ring is a very simple device, like other 2GIG sensors, and other than communication errors due to distance or construction (which is about as unlikely as it could be given where you describe this device is installed in relation to the panel) this is very likely a hardware malfunction.
On a Go!Control you would navigate to that sensor Zone and just delete the various fields, setting them manually to defaults. It is not necessary to default them all. You could just go in and re-learn the serial number and verify loop 1 is selected.
Sensors do not need to be removed like Z-wave devices.
