I purchased monitoring and received my welcome email with instructions setup my 2 Gig Go Control panel. This is an existing panel that came with the house I bought. I don’t have the master code and I tried to reset the installer code with no luck. I did confirm the cellular module was not registered before signing up for service. I need to run a cell phone test, is there a way to do it without any codes?
I was finally able to reset the installer and master codes. However the cell phone test keeps failing. I followed video instructions to force the registration by starting and canceling a walk test 3 times then retried the cell phone test then I waited 10 minutes and ran the cell phone test once more but it still failed. I have Verizon 3G cellular module and the panel is running firmware 1.9.5. What should I do next to get my system setup?
Are you using the antenna included with 3G communication modules? Or is the antenna that is connected currently the older 1/2 inch by inch and a half or so smaller version? If you are using an older 2G antenna, there will be issues.
Can you check to make sure your antenna is connected securely to the module and that the module antenna port is not loose on the board?
Did you swap the module with the panel powered up? Always power down the panel before making a physical change inside. If it was powered during the swap you will want to fully power cycle your panel now, first unplug the plug in power supply, then unplug the battery. Wait 30 seconds, then plug in the battery, then the power supply.
I can’t see the antenna, this syatem was installed when the house was built. I didn’t change the cellular modual it was already in place. The only thing I have done so far is reset the installer and master codes to their defaults. Now for some reason the panel is beeping every 30 seconds or so. What could be causing that?
Have you tried powering down the panel completely, power supply and battery, for 2 minutes, then power back up. Wait another couple minutes, then try a cell test. Any luck?
What is the model number on the module itself?
It should be 2GIG-GCCDMV-A or 2GIG-GCCDMV-AN. The model ending in N is older.
It is rare, but some older modules that have not been in use may have been deactivated by the carrier and may not respond to forced registration.
I would try the steps in the following video one more time after powering cycling the panel. Make sure to wait the full ten minutes. If that does not work, and all else looks correct, you may need a new module.
No luck following the steps you outlined. I went ahead and ordered a new cell module.
Ok, thank you for following up. That is best considering it is definitely one of the earliest Verizon modules. It has almost certainly been deactivated based on the behavior you describe.
