I am getting ready to setup my 2GIG GC3 system this weekend. I will be using verizon LTE cellular module in it.
Could you tell me what is the workflow for signing up for alarm.com with you guys, firmware update to v3.1, any guidance on initial setting for the panel? Do I signup for service before beginning? Is the first step after start up to update firmware?
After that I will follow your guides to add 2GIG-DW10-345 sensors…
Once service is purchased and your order survey completed through suretyDIY, our team will set up your account and you’ll receive a Welcome to suretyDIY email with instructions for connecting your panel and testing your communication. Your initial Alarm.com credentials will be included.
Once you receive your Welcome to suretyDIY email, you can connect your panel to service at any time after that. Upon running a successful cell test and connecting your panel, an initial command template will ensure that the basic programming questions are set for communication with our service.
A description of programming questions can be found in the manual. Many of the questions are a matter of personal preference, entry exit delay, panic button function, backlight timeout, etc., but for the most part they do not need adjusted unless desired.
Firmware updates can be done at any time, but it is probably a good idea to get it out of the way first. GC3 updates are done via a usb drive. You can find firmware links here.
You can find a programming guide and tutorials for standard 2GIG sensors here.
You’ll want to contact your local responding authority to determine if a permit is required. Often this info will be available on the authority website, as you have found.
Depending on the location and form, yes, the monitored by section will either be us or the monitoring station name (if suretyCAM is listed, that can be selected) and the installed by should be “Self” or N/A.
The exact details on any form will vary from city to city.
On the sign up form is Verbal Administration Password different from the password I used to create my SuretyDIY.com account? It a bit confusing why its called “Verbal”
The administration passcode is used exclusively to verify account change or information requests. It is just something that will be asked if you request a change through email, etc.
