I just ordered an AT&T 4G/LTE communicator to get our alarm back online. It currently has version 1.13 on it. Can I jump straight up to the current firmware, or do I need to step up the updates?
And should I wait until the new communicator arrives to do this or can I just take care of it now?

You can jump straight to the latest from 1.13. You don 't need to wait until it arrives, you can upgrade now if you want. Firmware links are available here if you need them.
